Dear Tough Enough to Wear Pink Sponsors,
It is with great pride and humbleness that I have acted as chairman of the Gunnison’s Cattlemen’s Days Tough Enough to Wear Pink committee the last two years. I would like to thank all of you for your contributions and support.
Gunnison’s TETWP for the second year in a row is the #1 rodeo in the USA in support of breast cancer, raising $90,000 in 2006 and over $70,000 in 2007. Cattlemen’s Days TETWP has worked closely with Public Health, Gunnison Valley Hospital and area physicians to follow our local message; “a program dedicated to providing local funding for breast cancer awareness, education, mammograms, support and further diagnosis.” One hundred percent of the dollars raised stayed in our community.
Since our inception, Wrangler has helped by giving $1,000 to our 4H-scholarship program to promote a scholarship in nursing or the medical field. We have encouraged the community through our local print media, public health lunches and health fair booth to get a check up.
In July TETWP assisted the Western State College Volleyball team in providing a breast cancer awareness clinic for approximately 300 young ladies from around the state who attended their volleyball clinic.
Since October 2006 Gunnison’s TETWP has helped with 55 mammograms and ultra-sounds, one (1) biopsy and three (3) families of breast cancer survivors. In October, breast cancer awareness month, Gunnison’s TETWP presented the Gunnison Valley Hospital with a check for ($27,000) to upgrade GVH to a digital technology platform that will compliment and enhance mammography in our area.
Wrangler’s humbleness in providing a venue nationally for a wonderful cause should not be overlooked. So often, large corporations want to brand such causes with their name. There are often “ropes” attached with a portion of the dollars raised going to their agenda’s causes or expenses. Wrangle expects none of this.
Early detection is essential in beating Breast Cancer. It is the most common type of cancer among women in the USA and rising in men. Of the 220,000 new cases of breast cancer in 2007, 22% (48,400) will die. You as one of the sponsors allow our organization to ride on your back to help our community fight this hideous disease.
Thank You, Stetson, Resistol, Montana Silversmith, Roper, Weaver Leather, Double H Boots, Bullion Jewelry, Cactus Ropes, Morey’s Gifts, Shady Brady, Hat Biz, Nacona, Pro Equine, Skully Co. Colorado Saddlery, Rocky Brands Gear, Three D Belt Co. Gunnison’s Western World, Slogars.
Sincerely,
Jim Swaim, VP Cattlemen’s Days, the Gunnison Community and entire TETWP committee
