Cattlemen’s Days 2020 announces that we have been given a variance from Gunnison County to hold our annual PRCA rodeo, 3 nights over Labor Day Weekend, 2020. We are the oldest continuous rodeo and the 4th oldest professional rodeo in the nation. The Cattlemen’s Days celebration persevered during World War 1, the 1918 Pandemic, World War 2, and the Great Depression. We are committed to making this 120-year-old Gunnison, Colorado tradition continue in 2020.
This year we must raise at least $150,000 to put on this professional rodeo, which is fan-less but will be nationally televised on the Cowboy Channel for the whole cowboy nation to enjoy.
While local fundraising is going well, without the income of a fan base we must reach out to our loyal supporters in the valley and the rodeo community at large to make this event happen. We normally live by the Code of the West, stand on our own two feet, and fight our own battles. Due to time constraints and being relegated to a fan-less rodeo, we’d like to give the rodeo community a chance to stand with us in support of professional rodeo and our Gunnison Valley tradition. We have until August 10th to raise the funds. It’s a long way from $0 to $150,000, but we can get there together.
UPDATE: We have raised $85K and counting as of August 6th, which leaves $65,000 to raise by August 10th. Let’s do this!
While it is currently fan-less, will be submitting a variance request to allow limited fan attendance. In the event that this is successful, tickets will be distributed in a lottery-style format. For every $150 in sponsorship money, you will be given one entry into the Gunnison Cattlemen’s Days ticket lottery. If you are successful in being picked, you will receive two tickets to the rodeo (no one wants to go alone). Many, or most of you may wish to donate much more without the intention of winning a ticket, should they be allowed. Those sponsorships are so very appreciated.
Based on the information we have received via social media and through members of the rodeo community, people are ready and willing to help the professional rodeo athletes support their families and their attempts to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.
All funds raised from this GoFundMe campaign will be used for the 2020 Rodeo to support the professional rodeo athletes. No funds will be retained by Cattlemen’s Days.
We have a long-standing tradition of being a top quality rodeo including being named Mountain States Circuit Medium Sized Rodeo of the Year for 2019.
Our stock contractor is 11-time PRCA Stock Contractor of the Year, Stace Smith Pro Rodeo. NFR Announcer Andy Stewart will be returning for the 2020 rodeo. Our contract personnel are a virtual Who’s Who of Rodeo including Music Director of the Year nominee, Randy “Stretch” Mayer, NFR Pick-up Man, Shaun “Too Tall” Calhoun, NFR Pick-up Man, Jason Bottoms, and PRCA Secretary of the Year Linda Alsbaugh, who is also a Gunnison native.
Advertising sponsorships are available as well. Please contact Cattlemen’s Days directly if you’d like to pursue that route. This will be fabulous advertising for our valley. The Cowboy Channel has offered a ticker to run at the bottom of their screen to advertise our sponsors. This will be great exposure to the Gunnison Valley. Donations can also be made by check to Cattlemen’s Days 2020, PO Box 1203, Gunnison, CO 81230 but must be received by August 10th.
Thank you in advance for helping us make this important event a reality for 2020,
The Gunnison Cattlemen’s Days 2020 Committee
